Regional competitive events
All members of RVFBLA are expected to compete at the Regional level. You will be able to register for a time slot closer to regionals. We will have tutorial meetings for you to decide which event you'd like to compete in.
state leadership conference
Students who place at the Regional level will have the opportunity to compete at the NJ State Leadership Conference during March in Atlantic City, NJ. Students who do not place during Regionals are also welcomed to compete in a "Walk-On" at States.
National leadership conference
Students who place at the NJ State Leadership Conference are able to compete on a National Level. Students who do not place during States are also welcomed to compete in a "Walk-On" at Nationals.
So, what really are competitive events?
Question: How do the REGIONAL competitive events work?
Answer: You first study a business topic of your choosing. You do this by looking at the resource page provided for your topic with Quizlets and practice tests (linked under resource page).
The actual competitive event is most likely a multiple choice test and is scored out of 100 points. You have 1 hour to take the test. DO NOT WORRY!!! The test is nothing to stress about! You will have more than enough time to take the test and answer all of the questions. Studying is recommended, but you do not need to study for more than 30 minutes a day for about 1-2 weeks in advance of the test. And if for any reason you do not do well, you will not be kicked out of the club- There are absolutely no repercussions.
Once the test is taken, your score will be sent to the State FBLA office. You will be competing against other people from other schools but who took the same exact test as you in the South Jersey Region. There is normally an awards ceremony where the top 8-10 scores for each test in each region are announced to everyone, which determines if you take the test in the same topic for the state competition- you do not need to focus on the awards or states right now, but I just wanted to give you some background information.
